YOUR REFUND AT A GLANCE
95% of the amount paid
Within 60 days of original purchase, with no claim made, refund the total amount paid less a 5% administrative fee: 95% of the amount paid. No time/mileage proration applies to these scenario facts.
ⓘBased on cancellation within 60 days with no claim made. Confirm the amount paid and who will receive the refund.
WHEN YOU CANCEL MATTERS
Inside the initial window. Or after.
These are the two cancellation periods in this Florida sample. Other policies and states can use different rules.
APPLIES TO THIS EXAMPLEWithin 60 days of original purchase
95% of the amount paid, if no claim was madeThe refund is the total amount paid less a 5% administrative fee. If a claim was made, this endorsement instead gives the greater of the amount paid minus claims paid, or zero.
CONDITIONAL REFUND RULEAfter 60 days of original purchase
90% of the amount paid, prorated, less claimsProrate 90% of the amount paid using whichever is greater proportionally: days in force or miles driven against the full contract term. Then deduct claims paid. The within-60-days 95% result no longer applies. Do not add the earlier 5% fee to this formula.

Your cancellation checklist
0 of 4 completeWork through the steps below. Page references link to the supporting contract language.
1
Contract requirement
Submit the cancellation request
Contact American Auto Shield, Inc., by calling 800-808-6616 or writing to 14033 Denver West Pkwy, Suite 200, Lakewood, CO 80401. The endorsement permits either method. CarShield is the seller; the administrator receives cancellation requests.
2
Helpful suggestion
Provide identifying information and keep proof
Include name, contract number, VIN, original purchase date and requested cancellation date. State that no claim has been made and retain payment records and proof of submission. These are practical suggestions; the cancellation clause specifies no mandatory affidavit, odometer statement, notarization or special cancellation form.
3
Helpful suggestion
Confirm the refund and payee
Request written confirmation that cancellation falls within 60 days, the total amount paid, the 5% fee, the resulting refund, the recipient and payment date. Confirm any financing agreement’s effect on payment routing and future billing.
4
Helpful suggestion
Use the documented escalation right if needed
If the administrator fails to perform or pay within 60 days after a request for performance or payment, the financial-security endorsement permits applying directly to American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida, P.O. Box 21647, St. Petersburg, FL 33742; call 866-306-6694 for instructions. Retain the request and nonpayment record for follow-up.

THE DETAILS THAT MATTER
Understand your refund
Cancellation fees+
Use the Florida endorsement’s 5% fee. Do not add the generic $75 listed on the sample declarations or apply the after-60-day formula.
Who receives the money?+
The clause identifies the contract holder as receiving the refund. It does not supply a financing-specific payee rule; confirm actual routing rather than assuming a lender or direct cash payment.
When should you follow up?+
No ordinary refund-processing deadline is stated. The separate 60-day financial-security trigger runs from the performance/payment request, not the purchase date.
Before you go
The no-claims history is fictional. Your issued contract, state rules and actual payments determine your refund. This example does not establish a dollar amount or guarantee approval.
